Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal replaced the top bureucracy in the government immediately after taking over. Ramesh Inder Singh, former principal secretary and working in the Union government as deputation has been appointed as the new chief secretary. He replaces K R Lakhanpal. The new police chief shall be N P S Aulakh, who replaces R S Gill. Both Ramesh Inder Singh and Aulakh are currently on deputation with the union government.
