PU organizes performance by vocalist Dr Suhasini Karotkar
The Music Department of Panjab University today arranged stage performance of eminent vocalist Dr. Suhasini Karotkar from Pune. A disciple of Pt. T.D. Janorikar of Bhindi Bazar Gharana, she presented three compositions in Raga Jog and enthralled the participants as well as listeners.
The second resource person was senior Prof. Of the Dept., Dr. Saroj Ghosh. A disciple of Ustad Amjad Ali Khan Sahib, she presented a lecture-cum-demonstration on techniques of sitar and played Alap in Raga Todi. She presented compositions in Raagas Saraswati and Kirvani. She dedicated her performance to the everlasting memory of Late Sitarist Mrs. Puspa Verma of Chandigarh who came as a resource person on 9th December 2009 in this ongoing Refresher Course on “Performing and Visual Arts”. Her performance was full of emotions in her remembrance. A two-minutes silence was observed. Prof. Pankaj Mala Sharma, Chairperson and Coordinator of the Course thanked the resource persons for their valuable presentations.
