PU organizes one day seminar on Public Health

One-day National Seminar on Public Health was organized by the Centre for Emerging Areas in Science and Technology (CEAST) – Public Health, Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with the National Institute of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi. While inaugurating the seminar, Chief Guest Prof. R.C. Mahajan, Parasitologist from PGI in his keynote address commented on the pressing public health issues, community involvement and human resource demand in this area. Prof. R.C. Sobti, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University said that Panjab University has initiated masters in public health course to address the demand of public health professionals in the country.


Some of the renowned speakers included Prof. Deoki Nandan, Director, NIHFW, Dr. Sheila Vir, Consultant, WHO, Dr. Prakash V. Kotecha, Technical Advisor (USAID and A2Z), Dr. Superna Pachauri, Consultant Finance (WHO).
The themes addressed during the seminar related to NRHM, public private partnership, HIV-AIDS, malnutrition and health financing. Delegates from different institutes in Chandigarh, Aligarh and Ludhiana participated in the seminar according to Dr. V.L. Sharma, Coordinator, Master in Public Health.
