Punjabi Folk Games festival to be held every year

Dr Jaspal Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University announced the holding of Punjabi Folk Games Festival every year on a much larger scale to project and promote the rich cultural heritage of Punjab. He was speaking on the occasion of Punjabi Folk Games Festival, organised by the directorate of youth festival on the University campus here today. He also gave away the prizes to winners of different games. The games included Shtapoo, Geete and Rassi Tapna for girls and Loon Miyani, Pithu and Rassa kasi for boys, according to Punjab Newspaper (www.punjabnewspaper.com).


According to the Director, Youth Festival, Dr Satish Kumar Verma more than 150 boys and girls from different University hostels and day scholars took part in the games which were judged by Prof Kirpal Kzak, Dr Prabhshsran Kaur, Prof Gurmeet Bhathal and Prof Maljinder Kaur.
