Now purchase sculptures from Rock Garden
The Chandigarh administration has approved the beautification and development plan for the Rock Garden. Proposed by its founder creator Nek Chand, the structural re designing is meant to improve the aesthetic view of the entire garden. Low height sculptures will also be sold at the Rock Garden for tourists, according to Punjab Newspaper (www.punjabnewspaper.com).
UT Home-cum-Tourism Secretary, Mr. Ram Niwas today chaired a meeting regarding the beautification and development of Rock Garden in which various proposals put forward by Sh. Nek Chand for adding more artistic value to the garden were discussed .The Structural Re -designing would be undertaken in order to improve the aesthetic view of the entire garden .Similarly some low height sculptures will be planned apart from establishment within the premises of Rock Garden which would facilitate the tourists to take back memories of Chandigarh.
This was finalized at a meeting held by the UT tourism secretary Ram Niwas. A sum of 43 lakh will be used to install pumps and a tubewell at the Rock Garden. Another 6.58 lakh will be spent on flooring. 3 lakh has been sanctioned for creating railings in front of sound proof hall, welded mesh in front of laughing mirror, steel gates etc for the safety of the visitors. For human statues in the third phase of the Rock Garde, 37.2 lakhs has been allocated. Staff will be outsourced for maintenance of acquriums. Another 9.8 lakh will be spent on increasing the height of boundary wall in phase two. An additional 7 lakh per annum shall be granted for engagement of workers.
Approval has been given for the workshop and hospitality expenditure of Fifteen thousand rupees for foreign participants in Rock Garden. Further approved the expenditure of Eighty Five thousand rupees incurred for purchase of various articles as per direction of Creator Director, Rock Garden; also approved around Sixty Five Lakhs for the construction of Hall for workshop and office in third phase of Rock Garden; around Ten lakh rupees has been approved for improvement/renovation of various spots to give further facelift to the garden. In order to re-vitalize the security system ,it was decided that the installation of surveillance system with recording facility (C.C.T.V); installation of Mass Evacuation System with voice system, for installing X-Ray baggage machine to check baggage/parcel etc; for all these security equipments may be under taken. Mr. Niwas has stressed on maintaining the ambience of the place and suggest that the attire and furniture will be designed to increase the soothing and imaginative touch of the spot.
