Congress alleges code violation by Ludhiana administration

The Ludhiana District Congress Committee has alleged violation of the code of conduct by the district administration at the behest of the ruling government in Punjab. The district unit alleged that the akali dal – bjp combine was distributing blue ration cards among the people with a clear motive to influence them for votes in the parliamentary elections.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Election Commissioner of India, Dharamjit Singh Khera, Chairman, Legal Cell, District Congress Committee, Ludhiana, alleged, “violation of the election code of conduct by the district administration in Ludhiana at the behest of the SAD-BJP government in the state”.

The letter said, “the administration is distributing the “blue ration” cards among the public. These ration cards entitle people to buy aata for Rs 4 per kg and pulses, for Rs 20 per kg. This is being done with the obvious motives of influencing the voters on the eve of the parliamentary elections scheduled to be held here on May 13. This is being done in blatant violation of the Election Code of Conduct which came into force on March 2, 2009 after the announcements of elections”.
It also alleged that the district administration has issued transfer orders of various employees after the code of conduct came into force.
Moreover, it said, there were signboards of the ruling SAD-BJP alliance being displayed on the government buildings and the government property. Contrary to that the local administration has been forcibly removing the hoardings and flags of the Congress from the offices and the houses of the Congress workers.
