Subject: General Elections to Gram Panchayat 2008- Countermanding of village Panniwala Fatta Tehsil Muktsar District Muktsar.

Reference your Memo No.4959 dated 25.05.2008 on the subject cited above alongwith enquiry report of the District Transport Officer.
2. Commission accepts the report that two nomination papers were wrongly rejected by the Returning Officer. The election process of Gram Panchayat Village Panniwala Fatta Tehsil Malout district Muktsar has been vitiated. Therefore the Election to Gram Panchayat Village Panniwala Fatta is countermanded and fresh election schedule shall be issued separately.
Since the Panchayat poll is scheduled to be held on 26.05.2008, therefore, the above directions are communicated to the District Electoral Officer/ Additional District Electoral Officer for immediate compliance. The detailed orders, alongwith action, if any, to be taken against the Returning Officer, shall be communicated lateron.
This issues in exercise of the powers vested with the State Election Commission under Article 243K and 243N of the Constitution of India.
