Sukhbir Singh Badal unveils Punjab Vision at NRI Sammelan
Member Parliament and Working President Mr.Sukhbir Singh Badal today unveiled SAD-BJP vision of a new Punjab and said that state was all set to move into a higher orbit of progress and development.
Making a power point presentation on ‘Punjab Vision’ Mr.Sukhbir Singh Badal during the Punjabi NRI Sammelan said: ‘the focus of this Sammelan is what Punjab Government can do for NRIs and not what NRIs can do for Punjab” He said that today Punjab was the land of opportunities and the NRIs participating in growth this year would reap benefits in next 10 years. He said that ‘Vision Punjab’ was not a political statement. He outlined the bold initiatives taken by the SAD-BJP alliance in just 10 months were spectacular that included the setting up of Mohali International Airport and the up gradation of Amritsar International Airport, besides three more Airports would be made operational at Pathankot, Sahnewal and Bathinda within one year. The up gradation of power and irrigation sector was the major thrust areas to propel overall economic growth and development in the state.
The technical sessions on ‘legal perspective for NRIs’ and ‘role of development of NRIs in Punjab’ was chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Mr.Parkash Singh Badal in the afternoon. Advocate General Punjab Mr.HS Mattewal and Mr.Sukhbir Singh Badal were the co-chairman of these sessions.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also released a book titled “Overview of legal issues” for NRIs.
Responding to the queries raised by NRIs, the Chief Minister assured all the 1300 cases of proclaimed offenders would be reviewed with in next two months. He informed that all the SPs headquarters has been designated as SP NRI to deal with the cases pertaining to NRIs at priority. To ensure speedy justice to the NRIs two family courts were being set up at Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur. Mr.Badal said that the state government would soon introduce sports science as subject in the colleges and universities to boost the sports avenues in the state as well as abroad. Mr.Badal also assured that the image of state police would be made people friendly to redress the grievances of NRIs at the priority.
In his welcome address, Chief Secretary RI Singh said that this conference would prove to be a milestone in the history of Punjab government- NRIs bounding. He hoped that the suggestions put forth by the NRIs during the conference would enable the government to formulate a concrete policy for their welfare.
Eminent, NRIs including Ms.Neena Gill, Member of EV Parliament from Brussels, Mr.Ujjal Dosangh former Premier of British Columbia, Canada, Ruby Dhalla,M.P from Canada, Gurbax Singh Malhi, M.P., Lord Diljit Rana from London, Baroness Usha Prashar from UK, Sant Singh Chhatwal from New York, USA, Minister Harinder Takhar from Canada, Mr.Pajit Walia from New York of Royal Bank of Canada, Mr.Sukh Dhaliwal,M.P. from Canada and Raj Loomha from London attended the Sammelan.
Meanwhile, Senior Vice President PHD Chamber Mr.Satish Bargodia proposed a vote of thanks in the morning session and Principal Secretary Information & Public Relations Mr.DS Jaspal in the evening session.
