Punjab Chief Minister asks public schools to adopt one government school each

Punjab Chief Minister Mr.Parkash Singh Badal today called upon the management of the Public schools to adopt one Government school each in its vicinity to impart quality education to the deprived students to enable them to compete with the public and convent educated students.
Addressing at the 47th Founders’ Day Celebrations and Prize Distribution function of Punjab Public School (PPS) here, Mr.Badal said the SAD-BJP Government was committed to revamp the existing education system in the state to provide quality education to the students through the newly developed concept of ‘Adarsh Schools’ in the state. He declared that the whole school education infrastructure curriculum and directions would be given a ‘modernizing touch’ within the next three and a half year.
Underscoring the need to revolutionize the educational scenario in the state, Mr.Badal pointed out that conventional education would not help the youth alone in securing better job prospects because vocationalization of the education was the need of the hour. He said that the state government had embarked upon an ambitious programme to open skill development centers through out the state to impart technical training to the youth to improve their chances of employability both within the country and abroad.
Emphasizing the role of the quality education in shaping destiny of any nation, Mr.Badal lamented and described the gross neglect of education and human resource development in the country’s planning as an ‘appalling trend’ which could jeopardize country’s overall development and prosperity. He squarely held the previous government for the constant deterioration in the educational system and said now it was a high time to make concerted efforts to revamp the entire system according to the emerging trends across the globe in the changed scenario.
Appreciating the outstanding contribution of the PPS towards the society, Mr.Badal said that this institution of learning with great distinction had produced eminent personalities in the diverse professions of Army, civil services, medical, judiciary and engineering etc. The Chief Minister pointed out that such institutions of national repute should act as ‘role model’ to benefit the under privileged and economically poor students especially hailing from rural areas. He said that once such students were admitted in these institutions of excellence then their career was ultimately assured.
Earlier, the Chief Minister took a round of an exhibition put up by the students of the school and the computer lab. He also had a meeting with the members of the faculty in which he was apprised about the functioning and academic activities of PPS by the Headmaster Col. I.N.Sayal. He announced a grant of Rs.10 lakh for the development of the school.
Mr. Badal also inspected the guard of honour and took salute from the cadets of NCC. He also honoured Lt.Gen.TK Sapru, GOC Western Command who was an alumnus of this prestigious institution. On the occasion, Mr.Badal distributed to the prizes to the students and teachers who excelled in the field of academics and extra curricular activities. Sharing his nostalgic movements spent in the school, Lt.Gen. Sapru said that whatever he had achieved in his life was due to the sheer hard work put in by his teachers that shaped his career.
The students made the audience spell bound with the performance of PT and Gymnastics display, group dance, band formation, para sailing and horse riding.
