Parminder Jaswal is president of Panjab University students council
Panjab University Students Union (PUSU) and the Indian National Student Organization (INSO) Monday today won three of the four seats in the elections to the students council of Panjab University.
Parminder Jaswal of department of defence studies is the new president. He defeated Uday Bhan of Students Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU). Gagandeep Kaur was elected vice president and Sunny Bhardwaj is the new general secretary.
The lone SOPU candidate who won was Jasdeep Dhillon who was elected as joint secretary.
Though the university has 7500 voters, only 50 per cent of students cast their vote. This is attributed to a lot of campus students going back home for Diwali which is on November 9.
The Panjab University Campus students’ council (PUCSC) elections this year saw reversal of fortunes for SOPU, which has been winning in the past two years.
