Charge of Sonia brigade: Akali Dal
The Shiromani Akali Dal today dismissed the so-called reform effort of some non representative individuals as “the Charge of Sonia Brigade” under a new garb’ and an attempt b y the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to deflect pubic attention from the abject failures of his government. They have merely reiterated what the Punjab Pardesh Congress Chief Shamsher Singh Dullo had said the other day, that is free the Sikh shrines from the elected representatives of the Sikhs in the SGPC,” the party Secretary General Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and General Secretary Balwinder Singh Bhunder.
“These paid employees of the old Patiala House of repression, exploitation and torture have been forcibly made to work under one umbrella to further the Congress goal of disrupting the religious quiet of the Sikh shrines and to try to capture the control of the holy Gurdwara from the elected representatives of the Panth. The charter submitted by them to the Akali Takhat secretariat today was prepared at the residence of one of Chief Minster Captain Amarinder Singh’s advisors known for dirty conspiratorial intrigues. Their effort to brow beat the sangat and create a fear psychosis in the community would never be allowed to succeed,” said the senior Akali leaders.
They further said that the true nature of the so-called reform effort was evident from the composition of the delegation and from the absence of any religious item on their memorandum. “The delegation comprises some former and wannabe politicians who stood rejected by the Sikh masses in repeated elections. And all that their memorandum contains is personal venom and hatred against the SAD chief Parkash Singh Badal. They have not even been able to hide their political ambitions as they talk of replacing Mr. Badal as the Panthic leader,” Mr. Dhindsa and Mr. Bhunder said.
The SAD leaders further said that these disgruntled elements were on the regular pay roll of Amarinder Singh. “People who receive even their TA and DA from the Chief Minster’s advisor are hardly qualified to talk on behalf of Sikh sangat. Forget about protecting the dignity of the Sikh quom, they have mortgaged even their own dignity to a mere official of the Chief Minister famous for unethical conduct,” alleged the SAD leaders.
